Crafts & Activities Around the House

We got back to doing some fun kitchen mixing and experiments together - here a just a couple. Those gel packs above are just goo with some food coloring dropped in. My children hate to get messy, but I like to do things like this once in a while for sensory therapy (this move was a pretty hard on them, so on rough days, these activities were the perfect remedy) just mixing the color into the gel while it was in a safe plastic baggie is a great idea for kids like mine who won't touch the actual goo with their hands. This led to hours of squishy and throwing fun.
I found this fun experiment on pinterest (where else?!)
just water + food coloring  + alka seltzer tablets =lava lamp fun

Since moving here I have been attempting to decorate a bit, here and there. I found these cute wooden airplanes at Michaels for $1...so I snatched them up and painted them the colors in Asher's room

then just stuck them on the wall :) I like the effect...simple and whimsical
