The Real 1st Day of School!!

Here she is - our big kindergartener!! I can't believe it - now I know I'm a bit biased but isn't she just the cutest thing you've ever seen?!

Every day the kids line up outside their class until the bell rings - see her holding her little basket of gluten free snacks just in case someone brings cupcakes on their birthday :) they had cookies on friday and one boy kept saying how not fair it was that keely got gummy lifesavers and just got a dumb old cookie!! :)
And there she goes... :) this is where I got a little choked up.

So most of you are probably wondering how she's doing...she is awesome! she tries really hard to follow all the rules and do a good job on her classwork and homework so she can make her teacher proud (a bit of an overachiever already - if there's ever 2 ways to do something she always does the harder work)...she reads one page to me every night out of "Ten Apples Up On Top," and she's really starting to get the hang of it. we still do math everyday even though school hasn't started that yet. she's adding 10's now (20 + 60). her anxiety is pretty bad (of course) but she's not melting down everyday like I thought she might...we have a really strict schedule that we stick to which helps her more than anything...but she does tear up a few times a day when you can tell she's feeling overwhelmed, but she doesn't lose it and we work through it and then she's fine..less of these times each day...school seems to be her thing and being the social butterfly she is, she has two playdates set up for next week with kids from her class. :)

How is Asher doing with all of this? well, he's great because I keep him too busy with fun stuff to let him be sad about missing keely ;) he, birdie, and lisel do school with me and sophia every morning (circle time, work time, art, and snack) then each day we have a different activity (park, library, movie day, grocery shopping, and friday fun day!) and then it's time to pick keely up :) I won't bore you with the rest of our day, but we are busy bees and loving it :) more than ever I want to be a stay-at-home-mommy forever now :) it's just so fun!!

Keely, you are the most beautiful kindergartener ever!!! These are the best years, Tonya...savor every moment of your children's young life as a family together. You will never regret any effort you put into that. It makes us so happy to hear your happiness.
