Keely's 1st Public Speaking

Our little girl was asked to give a talk last sunday in primary for the first time. At first I was going to just write it up for her....but then I realized who we were talking about (silly mom) and went to grab her. To my surprise (I don't really know why I was surprised, but her intelligence still shocks me sometimes) she dictated the entire talk to me while I typed it up on the computer. Her delivery was even more amazing as she recited it from memory. Here's how it went:

Keely says: "I gave Asher a pink shirt just to be silly..haha"

Heavenly Father planned for us to come to this earth and have a family. I am happy with my family. I can strengthen my family now.

We read the scriptures everyday at lunch as a family. I love the scriptures. I love the prophets that are in the scriptures.

I have family prayer with my family every night.

I have family home evening every sunday, even with or without my grandma and grandpa.I learn about temples, the scriptures, Joseph Smith, Jesus, and other important gospel truths.

Each member of my family has an important job.

My dad's job is to go to work to get money for the things we need. My dad is also the priesthood holder in the family and he will baptize me of the age of 8. If I am sick or having a hard time he can give me a father's blessing to help me feel better.

My mom's job is to take care of me and my brother and teach us right from wrong. She plays games with me, takes me to park, does puzzels with me, reads to me, and does other fun things with me.

My job in the family is to listen and obey my parents. And help around the house by setting the table, clearing off the table, and cleaning my room

This is how I can strengthen my family now. I am thankful for my family and I love my family. I know that if we all do our part we can be together forever. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We were all sooo proud and impressed...I mean I can't even remember seeing a 5 year old give the alloted 2-3 minutes that you're supposed to...I thought she'd just say what she remembered and be done in 30 seconds :) It was amazing and so fun to see her shine!

Tonya, if you ever doubt what a good mom you are, read that talk over again, and you will have no doubt any more. Wow! That shows depth and insight that is rare in a 5 year old. You and Justin are both great parents.
